Non/Monogamy: Rewriting the Rules

Wednesday 10th June 2015

1-2pm

Sulgrave, Room SO14

the University of Northampton, Park Campus

During this presentation Dr Meg John Barker, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the Open University will provide an overview of common forms of non/monogamous relationships. They will make the point that, as with sexual and gender identities, recent years have seen a proliferation in terminology which has challenged previous binary understandings of monogamy vs. non-monogamy. For this reason it is more helpful to consider key ways in which people navigate their relationships, rather than focusing on whether they - or their relationships - are monogamous or non-monogamous. During this presentation Dr Meg John Barker will touch upon a number of different ways of exploring this, as well as considering some alternative understandings of 'open relationships'.

A sandwich lunch will be provided.
